Dear Snow,

You have trapped me at my Dad's house, for what was supposed to be just a one night visit...I might be here until Monday. But I am grateful, I was able to spend the day with him on his birthday (today)! A great day full of crafts and photos and Christmas prep. So thank you snow, for making me stay in one place long enough to enjoy time with my special family members that I love oh-so-much!

The day started out with snow...

and more snow!!

My dad started out with a yummy breakfast of

apples and whipped cream

I then began prepping Christmas gifts

(thank goodness I brought my crafts!)

We had dinner than yummy dessert,

my Dad's favorite...crumb cake!

Padre pulled out his vintage Minolta (pretty sure to show off!)

and I just had to play around with it....I fell in LOVE!

oooooooo I want this!

We then proceeded to venture out in this blizzard at 10pm to play in the snow. The three of us (me, dad, and my lil' sis Gaby) had so much fun...but it was SO COLD, we only lasted 30 mins!

So to my Papi, I love you!! Happy Birthday, hope it was magical!

He's such a ham!!!

Thrift Finds and Baking Goodness

It's thrift find Thursday!!!

Here are some finds from thrifting this week:

A set of retro yellow containers, can't wait to paint little doodles on them

and use them to store more of my stuff!

I never run out of things to fit in containers, so ridiculous :)

These frames and pictures are actually a collection from the thrift store

over time, but I finally finished painting them and figuring out what

picture I wanted in each frame. There are many more along the walls of my room,

I'm just not ready to commit and put them up in one spot on the wall!

(I'm quite afraid of commitment...but I'm getting better!)

These adorable painting are Michel Thomas Krisarts pieces,
done in the late 60s and early 70s. There are at least over 15 of these types
of pieces that go with the Michel Thomas Krisarts collection,
hopefully I will be able to find more!!

Those were my finds for the week, I was very frugal with my money and spending on
thifting, so the pickings are slim, but maybe I'll be a little crazier next week and have
LOTS to share with you all :)

On another note, I got this crazy urge to bake tonight.
I know, of all the urges, I wanted to bake, and on the same night that I decided I was going
to lose weight because I'm getting a little pudgy. I blame it on the fact that my
body is storing up fat for the winter and I need to extra pounds.
That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!
I had a lot of fun listeining to my new album purchase

'Break Up' by Pete Yorn and Scarlett Johanssen

and baking (from scratch of course) Chocolate Chip Peanut Butter Cookies.
Once again, the idea of cold weather coming has got me into homemaker mode
ready to bake, light candles, rearrange furniture and start making presents....
it's actually coming to be that time of year again. This year,
I WILL NOT PROCRASTINATE!
anyways....here's a peak at my baking experience:

I doubled the recipe and came up with tons of cookies,
I know the peeps at work tomorrow will devour them!

Well I'm determined to get a good night's sleep tonight so I'm off.

Visited DC on Sunday with some people I love love love, including my little sister Gaby, YAY!

It was the perfect day for a visit, sunny but not too hot and we ended off the evening with a worship servie at Ebenezer's Coffee House in DC, which is owned by NCC.

so there was a wedding and I was just so excited to find later on

that I got in on a picture with therm. YAY!

hehe they were so tiny and cute!

such an amazing time! It was a great end to the summer!

I have so much to share!

This past weekend was the send off for my very good friend and fellow fashionable blogger Jamie :)

She's now in the beautiful land down under, and I miss her!

So happy for her though, she is going to have the experience of a lifetime!

Roxy (her roommate) and I took her and her many things to her brothers house in Winchester, where we off-roaded and hung out at the local Walmart like all the cool kids, it was pretty awesome!

Then Sunday, Roxy and I took her to the airport, where many tears were shed.

We were so sad to see our dear friend go, but so excited for her adventures to come!

I cannot BELIEVE it's taken me this long to get back on Pio Pio Pio for another post. It's quite embarrassing actually. So sorry!

There's so much to catch up on!

Been working quite faithfully on the Grace and Lace blog I have with my super amazing and talented friend Jamie. She's just too fab!
Lately I've been thinking a lot of redecorating my room.
It's quite the hodge-podge little living area, which I don't mind. I'm a fan of found objects that wouldn't necessarily be found together in most situations, I'm just ready for a change!

Earth Angel

Wow, it feels like I haven't delivered a post of a decent size in quite a long time...

so here it is :)

My last post I said I was feelin' the need to paint! Well, that need was pushed aside because I could barely keep my eyes open. But last night, I was able to make lots of progress on a painting I have been working on.

This is where I stopped on the painting, so much more to do on it tho!
Updates will follow of course:)

My little cousin Colin is in town from Ohio for the weekend! YAY!
He is just so much fun to hang out with! He sat with me while I painted,
telling me allabout his crazy middle school adventures.
So happy he was able to come!

As stated in earlier posts, I got a new car!
This baby was driven right off the show room floor for me :)
I'm still pretty stoked about my money G3, and so when the odometer hit 123,
I, of course, thought of sharing the moment with you all and snapped a pic :)

I'm now at 200 something, I drive too much!

A friend of mine sent me this picture and on the subject line it read:
"fro boy"
I was intrigued to see what the picture was...It was the biggest head of hair I had ever ever seen on a boy that small!
He had to be like, 10. So cute!

This morning, I wake up to a cloudless sky,
sunny outdoors, and 90 degree weather.
A little humid but beautiful!
Well then I decide to go to Starbucks on my break from work
and I see these crazy ominous black clouds just consuming the bright blue sky.
Before I could say wowsa, it was doing this.....
...pouring, and I mean POURING rain. Did that for about 10 minutes
and it stopped just as fast as it had started.
After the downpour, it felt like I was sitting in a sauna!
Disgustingly humid.
About 2 hours later I'm walking to my car and it is dry as a bone outside;
all the water from the downpour dried up!
An absolutely crazy scene of events, but made for an interesting Friday!

That was my Friday!

I'm off to pick up my baby sister Gaby from work and
bring her to spend the weekendwith me.
YAY! Love my time with her!

....the need to PAINT!

I've had this painting sitting in my basement for a while...and I'm itching to finish it!

I was going through my daily scroll of my favorite blogs
and came across some old archives on the Selby.
I love to scroll through the Selby and get ideas
for my home, one day in the future.

I would pay a small fortune to get this stairwell
installed in my place.

My necklaces are hanging like this in my room!!!

this shoe collection.....there's not much to say.
I mean....LOOK AT IT!!!

one can never have too many polaroids.

I'm a huge fan of random notes in odd places
to help me not forget.

In other news, Jamie and I have started a fashion blog together!
I'm super stoked about it! Fashion is something we both share a
passion for and I'm so happy we get to collaborate on a blog together.

When I started this blog post I had every intention of making it short
and sweet and moving on the my painting downstairs.
Now I'm not so sure that's gonna happen.
My eyelids are feeling the pull of gravity and I'm
not sure I can do anything worth while.

Today is just a lovely Saturday that started out right!

I woke up early (which I love to do on the weekends),
feeling like today is going to be very productive!
I made my way to caribou for some coffee and nixed that idea
because it was way too full and there was no place for me to sit :(
So I instead headed over to Panera for a Cinnamon Crunch bagel,
an iced Chai Tea Latte and some free Wi-Fi!
I love to sit here as I am and blog, so relaxing :)

My list of things to do today:
1. Design a tattoo for the Boy, he stated earlier that he is
"open to all ideas on design, location, symbols, style
and still open to it being a short sleeve, etc.
(we had spoken of him maybe getting a sleeve).
My body is your canvas!!!"
How cool is that?!?!
I can't wait for him to be covered in my artwork! hehe

2. Finish save the dates for my cute friend Krista and her fiance Joel.

3. Meet up with my fabulous BFF Jamie to talk about our
fun fun fun idea.
It's a secret! When things are finalized, you can count on
me blogging about it!

Time to play catch up!

Oh my goodness, so much to catch up on!

So sorry for the delay on posting, its been a rough couple of weeks
in my personal life, but things are looking up
and I did some oh-so-fun things in my absence!

First things first, my car died. Completely KA-PUT!
Thanks to my awesome boy and great friends I was able to get around,
but being dependent on people is not really something I enjoy.
So, needless to say, I NEEDED a car!

Well, I got some advice that maybe buying a cheap clunker wasn't the best idea,
seeing that I HATE HATE HATE the car buying process.
The thought of buying a car and not having to worry about it
breaking down on me sounded reeeeeaaaalllll nice :)
But as I said earlier, buying a car freaks me out;
I don't want to deal with it (nor do I know how)
so my awesome boy offered to help!
He took me to look at cars, I found one I wanted
and he dealt with his friend
who worked at the dealership to get me the car.
It was pretty painless (thanks to him)
but you wouldn't know cause I was FREAKING OUT!!

soooooo.....
(drumroll please)

here she is!!! isn't she cute?!?!?
I haven't thought of a name for her yet,
and I'm a HUGE fan of naming my toys,
so got any ideas?

Another fun thing I did was go to a Legwarmer's concert.
They are a local 80's cover band and are GAH-REAT!
My cousin put it together for her husband's burthday,
and so my BFF Jamie, my boy and I went along
and had such a blast!

People were saying that my skirt was the best jean skirt they had seen all night.

Done like a true child of the 80s...
Heck yes!

The leading lady of Legwarmers came out in the crowd to say hey to her dad
and I HAD to get a picture with her
(especially since Jamie got one!!! haha)
It was a NON-STOP dance party!
My feet were killing me by the end of the night but it was
SO WORTH IT!

I LOVE THE 80's!!!!!!!

Well, it's getting late, so I'll leave you with a few more things
that have come about in the past couple weeks.

I bought new TOMS (these aren't mine, but a gift for someone dear to me).
No worries tho, mine are on their way!

A fantastic painting I found while thrifting, on super thin canvas.
I'm in love with it.
And last but not least...
The Boy is a huge Chicago Cubs fan.
For all of you artsy fashion bloggers who don't really follow sports,
The Chicago Cubs are a baseball team.
I know right, who knew??!??!
So we had to snap a shot of us in our Cubs gear.
He got the shirt for me and I must say,
it's probably the most wearable baseball shirt I've ever seen!

This morning, I went to the Ballston Campus of National Community Church
and had such an inspiring time of worship.
What a heart for missions!
I love to see that in churches :)

Cute thrift finds of the week
(they just make me so happy!)

1. Brand new, Holly Hobby decoupage kit!!!
I've always loved Holly Hobby, she was the first little doll I got the day I was born!
My auntie brought her to me and I have her to this day.
Needless to say, Holly Hobby holds a special place in my heart,
so I naturally jumped at this little kit.

2. Quail Salt and Pepper Shakers.
Growing up, I always noticed salt and pepper shakers around the house,
but it wasn't until I was older that I realized my trendy cool parents
collected salt and pepper shakers!
I have taken it upon myself to continue the collection of S&P shakers
and found some oh so cute quail ones on my thriting adventure.
I just love them!
3. This little trinket box.
I just thought the two little characters were absolutely adorable,
and I'm all about the cuteness,
so I had to get it!
4. Last but not least,
I had to show you some of my favorites
from the the clothes that I got(I believe these are retro tennis skirts.
Even though I'm not a tennis player, these were too cute to pass up.
If I ever need a preppy outfit, I'm turning to these!)

I love love love the feeling after a long and tiring day,

when I walk into my room and its clean and organized.
SO NICE!

I had a hankerin' today for Hershey's Hugs
(my FAVORITE FAVORITE FAVORITE candy)...
and was itchin' to watch Pretty in Pink
soooooooooo... needless to say, that's what I'm doing :)
It's the little things in life that make me so happy!

In honor of this epic movie,
I thought I would share 10 cute pink things I found today...

1. Oh I just love this vintage add for a Pink Royal typewriter.

2. Couldn't live without my iPod,
which just happens to look exactly like this one!
It would have been perfect if I had misplaced it then found it today,
but really I just wanted to include one of my pink electronics :)

3. One of my favorite actresses, Tilda Swinton,
merely because she's a fantastic actress
(see Benjamin Button and Chronicles of Narnia
for a glimpse of her fabuloussness),
she is fierce without a doubt,
and she never wears eyeliner to any movie premieres/awards and ROCKS IT.
I love people who are different-
4. I have no idea what is up with the people on this bus,
but I'd take a ride on this thing.

5. Since my theme is pink, I just had to include the
Andy Warhol print of Marilyn Monroe in pink.

I could kick myself for not heading back and
getting a picture or atleast a closer look,
but I do not like to inflict pain on myself.
So instead, I will just regret not turning around and move on with my life.
Epic moment tho!!!

ok so, I'm back from yummy Chipotle, had a fabtabulous veggie fajita bowl

and some great conversation with the boy, always so great!
So now I'm home and back to writing about my oh-so-memorable trip to NYC :)
We bought a day pass and just road the Subway everywhere....it was quite hectic but super convenient

We made our way over to Greenwich (pronounced Grenich for those of us who didn't know) Village and saw some awesome hacky sackers, a gorgeous fountain, super dope doo woppers, great jazz musicians, and a beautifully romantic park we laid in and took pictures.
It really was picture perfect.
So that was pretty much our day, lots of sight seeing and just great time spent together.
This is all you get to see of him for now, and I'm just in love with this picture.
In other news, my sister posted this oh so fabulous picture of our parents on her Facebook back when they were young and super in love.
I had to share...
ooooo I'm getting sleepy and still have oh so much to do for tomorrow!
Gotta pack for some fun sleepovers the next couple of days and get ready for pool day tomorrow! YAY!

Ok so, let me start out by offering my sincerest apologies to anyone who cares that it has been TWO MONTHS since I've blogged. It's quite embarrasing actually, but I'm coming back full swing! No worries.
In my absense, I have done some pretty freakin awesome things :) One of them being that I took a day trip with the new boy (hehe) to New York City and it was SO MUCH FUN! Who knew two people could do so much in a ginormous city in one day? It was really fabulous, take a looksee :)

Starting out the trip right! 5 am and gotta have the ipod hooked up. We were rockin out the whole way up.

YAY for dirty windows! they make pretty cool pics huh? Got some nice shots right after the Lincoln Tunnel and heading throught the city, LOVE NEW YORK!
First things first! We headed for the first bagel shop we could find and got an Everything Bagel with plain schmere (his fave, I had never had)
It was so yummo, but lets just say...Thank God I had some gum :)

We checked out the WTC memorial, or what they were working on to make the WTC memorial. Its still coming along.
It was pretty intense walking through there.... I remember exactly where I was when it all happened.Ok, gotta hit the road to meet the boy for Chipotle,

DUH! everyone knows who this is! The envy of most, Audrey Hepburn is an epic classic for any trend-conscious lady. Her fantastic style and phenomenal hair do's were revolutionary 40 years ago, and haven't changed a bit. She was the epitome of a lady and will always be known as such.

Off to tame the mane before worship at McLean Bible Church tonight, wish me luck!!

Above is a project done for a design class involving collecting over 100 samples of different papers, printing techniques, folds, etc, and binding them together for a presentation. Mine was a 3 volume piece that I grew to become rather satisfied with.

I call this my little gremlin. A free assignment I made to portray the demon in every child. I was inspired while talking over the phone to my sister and all I could hear were my crazy nieces and nephews. She wasn't too thrilled that THIS is what her children inspired me to create. :)

...but everything certainly seems better in Texas. I went and visited family a while back and found the trendiest places ever!
Above is a Coffeehouse/Church...I know what you're thinking. Why aren't there any of those in Virginia! Well I dunno, but this place is pretty schweet. With a huge open area for live music/church services, bangin' coffee choices, and a fabulous space for an art gallery, its no wonder business is good! Life in Deep Ellum is an awesome place to check out if you're ever in Dallas.
